Gastritis is a general name for a group of conditions characterized by inflammation, irritation or erosion of the stomach lining. The cause of gastritis can be a bacterial or viral infection, stress, certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, bile reflux... With such a list of prerequisites, it is not surprising that every other person on the planet suffers from gastritis. In some it is asymptomatic, in others it appears suddenly (acute gastritis), in others it prevents permanent life (chronic gastritis).Symptoms of gastritis are as follows:
- Stomach problems;
- Loss of appetite.
- Hiccups.
- Flatulence.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
- Abdominal pain.
- The stool is dark in color and has the consistency of tar.
All this is very unpleasant, and even more unpleasant are the probable consequences of gastritis - such as ulcers or stomach cancer. But wait for the panic! The disease is not so terrible if you follow a diet for gastritis.
Who needs a diet for gastritis? To everyone whose life is being poisoned in one way or another.Since gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach, it is extremely important to monitor what goes into the stomach. Some foods contribute to the development and intensification of inflammation, while others, on the contrary, "calm" it.Even if gastritis is asymptomatic, you should still follow a diet, at least in general - this way you will prevent the disease from worsening.
What not to eat if you have gastritis
The key aspect of the diet for gastritis is not to irritate the already irritated stomach, that is, to eat as neutral a food as possible. This, of course, does not mean that until the end of time you will be able to eat only chicken and steamed vegetables without salt, but you will have to give up all kinds of spicy, salty, dried, smoked food, especially if the doctor prescribed a diet for gastritis with increased acidity. So what should you not eat?

- Spicy dishes. This includes many national dishes: Korean kimchi, Thai tom yum, Mexican tacos.
- Fatty food. This includes fast food - the amount of fat in it is much higher than usual.Research has repeatedly shown that excessive fat consumption worsens gastritis, and you certainly don't want that.
- Alcohol.Any alcohol is a risk factor that causes gastritis attacks, so it is better to give it up completely.Even a small part can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
- Highly acidic foods. This includes, for example, citrus fruits.
- Sweets and pickles.Alas, both irritate the stomach walls, so you will have to salt and sweeten your food in moderation. This includes industrially produced juices and juices - in no case are they on the list of what you can drink if you have gastritis.
- Bakery. It is better to buy or bake whole grain bread.
- Kvass.Definitely not.
- Fermented milk products. The stomach lining is not friendly with them either. This also includes whole milk. You can use sour cream, but not much.
- Condiments and sauces.Be careful with them: even ketchup can trigger an attack, not to mention adjika. The grinder with the pepper mixture will have to be removed from the table, and the mustard is redundant.
Sometimes the cause of inflammation can be an allergy to something, but these are quite rare cases.
To make it easier for you to navigate, here are examples of foods that should be excluded from the diet for gastritis.
You cannot eat:Sausage, fresh bread, pastries, fatty cheese, candies and cakes, pickles, cakes, scrambled eggs, fried cutlets, hodgepodge, kharcho, dried meat, cherries, currants, cranberries, French fries, ready-made food, fatty meat, chocolate, corn, hard nuts, eggs, instant food, liver, fatty fish (salmon, tuna), canned food, legumes, mushrooms, unripefruit.
You cannot drink:cocoa, strong teas, juices, any alcohol, carbonated sweet drinks, energy drinks.
In general, the diet for gastritis depends on the acidity of the stomach and, accordingly, on whether it should be increased, decreased or "left alone".
If your acidity is high, remove extra coffee, rye bread, citrus fruits, tomatoes, meat and fish broths, beets, white cabbage, pearl barley, barley and millet. However, you should not overdo it with all these products even with low acid.Otherwise, if the temperature is high, you can make milk soups, but if it is low, you should not.
In addition, food sensitivities can vary from person to person, so for example, cabbage, nuts or dairy products can be tried for gastritis (strictly outside of exacerbation and in small doses). If everything is fine, then small doses of these products can be left in the diet. However, the "let's try" method categorically does not apply to fatty, spicy or salty food, and certainly not to alcohol. Here the stomach will certainly not say thank you, and not because it cannot speak.
Diet for gastritis: what you can eat

Now let's talk about what you can eat with gastritis. It may seem that we have already named everything in the previous paragraph, but, fortunately, that is not the case. However, before moving on to the list of allowed products, we will give general recommendations from doctors.therefore:
- Eat fractionally - that is, often and in small portions, so as not to overload the stomach.5-6 times a day - and the inflammation will begin to subside.
- Food should be warm.Food that is too cold or too hot will irritate the lining of the stomach and inflammation will increase.
- The more thoroughly you chew, the better.Regardless of whether you have high or low acid gastritis, the gastritis diet primarily involves eliminating foods that can mechanically irritate the stomach. That is why during exacerbations it is recommended to eat pureed, pureed food.
- Everything should be stewed, boiled or steamed. You should not eat fried food.
Let's move on to the main thing: what can you eat with gastritis? The list will be quite impressive. There will be no particular problems if you eat:
- Lean meat: chicken, turkey, ideally rabbit.Steamed cutlets, roast meat, tongue.
- Low-fat fish: pollet or hake.
- Dried white bread, maybe yesterday's bread.
- Dairy products are low in fat and sugar and will benefit from probiotics.
- Pasta (small, whole grains are better, but regular pasta will do, for example, "spider's web").
- Vegetables: broccoli, pumpkin, carrot, cauliflower, potato, zucchini. You can eat greens - dill, parsley, just cut them smaller.
- Fruit: Baked apples are number one.If the acidity is low, you can use citrus fruits. All fruits must be ripe.
- Sweets: marshmallows, marshmallows, honey, sour jam or jam in small quantities.
- Dairy products: cottage cheese and cottage cheese dishes, low-fat milk, kefir, yogurt.
- Oil: butter or refined vegetable oil.
- Broths: vegetable, low acidity, meat and fish, in any case - weak.
- Cereals: buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, semolina, you can cook porridge, make puddings or casseroles.
- Eggs: soft-boiled, in the form of a steam omelette (by the way, it turns out well in the microwave).
As you can see, the disease allows you to eat a varied and balanced diet.If the child is diagnosed with gastritis, then the question of what can be eaten with gastritis is also not worth it, just follow the list above. Now about the drink:
- Dried fruit compote and much more - we remember kindergarten.Otherwise, very tasty and healthy.
- Kissel.
- Weak tea.
- For low acidity – coffee.
- Rosehip decoction.
Let's repeat once again - it is especially important to follow a diet during exacerbations and two weeks after them.In other cases, you can indulge yourself, but it is better not to get carried away with it, otherwise you will have to sit on porridges and mashed soups for half a month - not a good prospect.
